They have a lower impact on the environment than fossil fuels, which produce pollutants such as greenhouse gases, contributing to climate change.  

Green energy can replace fossil fuels in all major areas of use including electricity, water and space heating, as well as fuel for motor vehicles. In 2019, 47.9% of the UK's electricity came from green and net carbon zero sources, and these numbers are only going to increase.
