About Digilegal

Digilegal is one of the UK's specialist providers of online will writing services. It was established in 2008 and is the only one to be given an Innovation Space Waiver by the SRA (Solicitor’s Regulation Authority) to provide the will writing services to the public. Depending on your and your partner’s needs, you can create a single will, a pair of wills, or mirror wills. Every will you create using Digilegal online services will be checked over by one of its solicitors to help you resolve all potential issues that could lead to confusion or dispute. With Digilegal, you can create a fully legal will whenever, from wherever you want. There are no hidden fees, you'll only pay what you see and what you agree to.

Digilegal FAQs

What is an online will?

An online will is simply a will that is made online, using a website that offers will writing services, and not in a solicitor’s office. Even though you'll create your will online, you'd still need to print a will by yourself or get a physical copy sent to you. You must sign the physical copy in front of witnesses.

Do I need a will?

By creating a will, you will make things less complicated and expensive for your loved ones once you're no longer there. In your will, you can set out who you want to receive any value from your estate and who should carry out your wishes. If there's no will, the state may make lots of assumptions and decisions on your behalf, which might not reflect your actual wishes.

What types of wills does Digilegal offer?

Digilegal offers a single will for £90, as well as a pair of wills for £150. Any two wills created together make a pair of wills and you can purchase them at a discounted rate. People who decide to purchase a pair of wills don’t need to have similar wishes. A pair of wills can be created by parents with adult children, siblings, and even friends. Mirror wills are usually made by a couple, and their wills have similar arrangements and the wishes in each will reflect one another. However, Digilegal doesn't provide mutual wills (wills that seek to bind or limit the future actions of each other). These wills are difficult to properly prepare and could lead to many court cases, which can be quite expensive. If you're interested in this service, you should look for a traditional high street solicitor capable of performing the service.

Can I update my online will once I create it and pay for it?

Yes, you can update your will if you purchase Lifetime Updates. This is available free of charge for the first year, and after the first year, you'll have to pay £10 per year per will. Lifetime updates include up to 5 updates a year.

Can I get my will printed and posted to me?

Yes, you can get your will printed and posted to you for an additional charge of £15.00 for a single will and £20.00 for a pair of wills. Make sure you select this option when at checkout. This service is perfect if you don't have access to a printer, or for any other reason.

Will the service be suitable for me if I live abroad?

Even though Digilegal wills are designed to be used in England and Wales, the service is also suitable for people living abroad (for their assets in England and Wales).

How should I store my will?

Once you create, print, and sign your will it's important to store it properly. It must be stored in a safe, accessible place. It's best that you tell your executors where you have stored the will. You shouldn't store your will in a bank-safe deposit box since it can be difficult and expensive to access the will. Digilegal has partnered with the National Will Safe. It offers a fire and floodproof storage solution for an annual fee.

How can I cancel my will?

You can cancel (“revoke”) your will purposefully or automatically. You can purposefully revoke the will by making a new will or physically destroying the will. When physically destroying the will, you must also make sure that it is clear that you're doing this to revoke the will (you should make a note, tell someone, or something else). Wills are revoked automatically when you get married or form a civil partnership.
